I talk to my mantis shrimp all the time. I am pretty sure he understands me too. I talk to my fish as well but not nearly as much as my mantis.

Well i didnt "Talk" It was more like yelling.
I was doing a 50/50 water change in my 55g fresh today
and my convict cichlid kept bumping into my arm and biting me.
I guess he was trying to tell me not to "Invade" his territory.
This all happened about 8hours ago and i can still see all his little
teeth marks embeded in my arm.
    He got me 4 times
I threatend him by telling him he was gonna be my dinner
He didnt listen and continued to torture me

For sure.;D When I return home from my trips, I am certain they respond to the music I play. I listen to a wide variaty, so not sure which is thier preferance..but Manhatten Transfer seems to get them in a calm zone8)...they just swim slowly and methodically from end to end....
....and I talk to them ALOT!....and would be sad if I lost one...especially the ones that have been with me over a year...The "originals", I call them.
    And ALL have names..
Also...Has there been a study of music vs. strees on tank inhabitants?

My mom and I both talk to the fish. She does it more than I do...I have other pets to talk to. :D

The words that seem to come out most are:
    "Clowns, stop twitching!"
    "You guys already ate."
"Wrasse leave the poor Blenny alone"
"Shrimp, what on earth are you doing?"

    as well as other phrases...:)

One time my frogfish asked me if he looked fat. I said Yes. We didn't speak for days.
