    +1 on both items.

No installation required on an RO/DI.

When we were first trying to get our nitrates down after cycling, we'd buy saltwater from Petco because the RO/DI couldn't make enough. The last time we used it was when I tested it and found 10 ppm nitrates. We ended up buying more storage containers and keep 20 gallons of RO/DI on hand at all times. We can only mix 14 at a time though.

I was talking to someone who is much more knowledgable and they said in all reality the ammonia is more likely because they just mixed it and hadnt aerated enough. Supposedly the aeration is not only for the ph but for ammonia

Hmm.. Why would you test Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrates? Are you purchasing used water? =/ On another note: He's asking about RO/DI.

you would be surprised at the results of some tests....... improper storage units, no aerations, old membranes.

I had a container of water that I had in my basement, with powerhead running, that sat covered for about 2 months. I decided for the hey of it to test it and the nitrates were through the roof!

My biggest concern though is the membranes and TDS with RO/DI water and the SG of saltwater. I know of a store (that is now closed) who NEVER changed their membranes or resins and that water was just pure tap water as a result (same store that filled my new tank with my brand new live sand and live rock with sg 1.030 and could not come back for a week to do a water change

Also, if your store doesn't keep their DI resins replaced and they are located in a city that uses chloramines as opposed to chlorine, you could easily end up with free Ammonia in the water.
