So I have been planning out the future additions (distant future) that I would like to add to my fairly new 29 gallon tank. I had written off the hope of adding a star due to the fact that I have heard of no real options out there for a reef safe star.
I have recently ran across a few article describing a few stars as reef safe. The ones most commonly mentioned are linkias. Is this correct? Are there reef safe options?

I just got a blue linckia. they are known to be reef safe but also very fragile. get them small and make sure you have a mature tank.( a few years old) linckias need large tank also. 100+ gal. your tank may be too small for a reef safe star. The only other ones I know of are brittle but they like to eat grogans. I guess it would really depend on what you are planing to house with it. stony corals are probably going to get gobbled up while soft have a better chance of making it.

Sand shifters are also "reef safe". I have one and all he does is walks over the sand and up/down the glass. Never seen him on the corals or LR. Luna

I believe that the orange fromia stars are reef safe as well.

29 is just too small for any star IMHO

Thanks for the info everyone. I guess I'll just stay away from stars due to my tank size. *sigh* alas.
