I have a flower pot coral (Alveopora). Keep the flow away from it not much is needed or they wont extend. When i do feed mine i feed it some shaved brine shrimp, shaved mysis shrimp, some very fine flake, and the main part of it Cyclopeez. Just mix all that up into a paste and add a little water to it. I use a pipette to feed mine, just because its smaller that a turkey baster. Also if it is bright green then it is more than likely bleached. It should have some sort of brown to it. If it dosent, take it back. Here is a video of aobut the correct amount of flow you need, YouTube - Goniopora video

If its not remotely close to that pic, then its not a Goniopora. Whoever told you its a "Hardy" coral doesn't know what they are talking about.

If it is in fact a Goniopora, you need to target feed EACH polyp or take it back to the store and raise hell about it. As mentioned on another post here, they have a severely low survival rate in captivity, its considered an "expert only" coral, and its even hard for experts to keep alive.

Here is the video Justin did with "Incognito SofaLove- Goniopora"

Well, there's two things wrong in this picture. A LFS sold you a Red Bali starfish which is a known coral eater and a very challenging coral. Even if you manage to properly feed your flowerpot, the star will eventually attack it. One of the two needs to be returned.

John Kelly, Julian Sprung, and Justin Credabel have researched flowerpots for quite some time. John put up a web page about their dietary needs here. Goniopora.org:::Goniopora Reference Web Site . Here's Julian's and Justin's info. You actually lucked out. What they told you was a Red Bali Sea Star (NOT reef safe) turned out to be a Fromia sp Sea Star which is reef safe.
