    Hey guys,
For about a month now I have been doing 10% water changes weekly because my phosphate levels were through the roof and my rock seemed to be dying (white color). I was told that since my phosphate levels were high it prevented photosynthesis and there for was the explanation as to why my rock was dying. I added a phosband media and been putting in 10ml of B-Ionic daily, as recommended by a professional. I've obtained good results but then this weird white thing started to grow. Does anyone know what it is? or if its harmful?

Sponges are a sign of tank health. They can start from spores within your live rock. They are a filter feeder, so all it will do is help filter your water.

Sponges are A sexual so all u need is a her small chunck for it to grow. That is as long as the chunk has all 3 type of cells that a sponge has.

Definitely a sponge and definitely a good thing... I've got one that started like that and has since covered half of a large rock. It isn't the prettiest looking thing ever but it hasn't bothered me aesthetically yet though... how to get rid of it if you decide to? No idea how :(
