Does anyone still use fluidized bed reactors?

    Does anyone still use that device or UV sterilizers?

    Lots of people still use UV sterilizers, fluidized bed reactors I am not so sure about. I believe its still a popular thing, but I know nothing about reactor technology.

    no not really for the bed reactors. bed reactors are for tanks with massive bioloads, for people that weigh there fish in lbs and measure them in feet. our live rock has enough surface area so its not necessary. but people do fluidize biopellets now.


    Some people do use UV but its just not necessary for a healthy tank.

    Yea I was reading some old literature from 1997 that talked about smaller bed reactors ran off a power head with silica sand inside.

    the big problem with them is if the power goes out like 90% of the bacteria dies. I know what your talking about like a rainbow lifeguard FB600.

    Yea and you can actually make them yourself out of PVC some fittings and tubing. As you can see in my specs I run the Berlin system, which in my opinion works excellently, I just wondered about what I read.
