I currently have my mag2 in the fuge with about 4 ft head which cuts down the flow significantly plus there's some vibration. If I put it higher up outside the tank inbetween the display and the fuge will there be better gph or is it the same whether it pulls or pushes? Thanks!

If its only a submersible then you shouldnt try to pull water not made for pulling just pushing. IMO

you also got to think about if power cuts out for a sec and the line goes dry the pump is dry on start up. the should be below the water line of where it is getting the water to prevent that. know what i mean?

Not only does it not make a difference, it is actually a much worse way of doing it for a variety of reasons.

Aquarium pumps will not lift water, the suction of the pump must be below the waterline for them to work.

This is from the Danner Mag pump info:

These robust, epoxy-sealed, low-head, magnetic drive pumps can be used either in-line (above water) or submersed!

(I just get vibration in the tank so was considering taking it out. Thank you!)

it will pull water, but there are advantages to running it in the sump.

Ok, I'll keep it in there. I am thinking of just running it like once a week and keeping a whisper filter going for water flow. I mean there's not that much waste going to build up in a week right? If I get around 100gph flow in a 30 gal setup then in theory in one hour it's all cycled plenty right? So running it for a day should be ok (saves electricity too,) What do you think? I won't have to worry about the vibration and gurgling etc or flooding.

Put the pump on a mouse pad or use the included feet. Make sure the pump does not contact the sump.

So lets see if I have this right... you have a sump and a fuge with buzzy Mag2....you also have a Whisper filter... you want to run the mag everynow and then..... No...you do not want to do that.

All pumps have a suction head rating. They can lift so much water so high on the suction side. However, they can't pump air. If you turn your pump off and water drains out the raised pump you will not get flow back unless you prime it some how. Mags can be run external, but it needs to be blow the water level. By turning the pump off for a while, you will have no flow through your sump/fuge. You can't stagnate water in your system. It has to circulate. Keep it running and just do something to help the buzz. If it were me, depending on what else you have, I would ditch the whisper filter all together. There are plenty of things to do to get your setup running right.
