    i dont rinse it with ro. i just dry it off completely with a rag.

    Ya.. just guessing. When things are not adding up, then it's time to take a look at everything. You are either loosing salinity, or your readings are wrong. I don't know that it is imperative, but I used to rinse mine off... even if you don't... theoretically some salt would stay on and give you a false higher reading yet yours is lower.
