those white spots could be from stress. not sure though. maybe do a 10% water change every week instead of 20%. IMO.

and by---- How long has your tank been set-up? two years prior to me receiving it on craigslist, ive had it set up for two weeks>>

does it mean you added new water and everything to it? or how was it given to you?

sorry i have had the tank for a month now and we moved the tank with 40 percent of the water still in it. I recently cleaned the tank really well, scrubbed the LR and vacuumed the gravel. but this was before i got the black clowns. the only other thing that is different is that my engineer goby really stirrs the sand around and makes piles a few inches deep? and my atinics didnt turn off at the right time last night, they were on an exrta five hours or so>? The clowns are still eating very well? This one has been hosting in my green flowerpot alot lately?

did the owner of the tank had any ick before? or why was he selling it?

if there were lights for 5 hours more than normal, that could be it...not sure though.
check your clown really closely and see if those "spots" are grain like spots, or patches.
grain might be ick... patches stress.
try to turn off your lights a little sooner today. i heard darkness helps to reduce stress.
dont quote me though.. wait for more responses.

it sounds like its due to stress, and stress is a hugh factor of fish getting ich.
eventually the fish will grow antibodies and help it become immune overtime.
add garlic extreme (a natural antibiotic)
add a uv sterilizer to the system
keep up with those water changes
or if your up for the challenge, get every fish out of the tank, place them in a quaratine tank without nothing in there other than some pipeing and a heater and treat them with copper for 4 to 6 weeks to get rid of the ich once and for all

I have had Ich really bad and finally decided to move all my fish, angel, 2 clowns and a manderine into a QT yesterday. Treating it with meds. Tonight my Angel, who was covered in white spots but eating Ok has decided to lay on his side tonight and is breathing very fast. The clowns who had it first and the worst are all clear of spots and eating well. I tried to treat my main tank for 2 weeks as advice given was better to treat in the main tank, but they were not getting better!
