Just wondering if, when I do WC's, should I carry the water out or just pour it down the sink.

Depending on how much salt water goes into it, yes it can destroy the microbacteria that make it work.

I read that as well ^. So, I just pour my saltwater in the drive way.

Interesting, and here I've been dumping it down the sink (to the Septic tank) for a couple of years....time to re-consider that approach....

the only thing that could be bad is if your house is older and has castiron pipes. it will destroy metal pipe!!! but as for the tank the saltwater you put in most likely will flow on through the field line and not settle in the tank unless it is a new tank or you just had it pumped. also if you add something like ridx then you will be adding the bacteria back into the system.

You can tell if your septic tank has too much salt in it by taste. Trust me. Best of luck.

    Not going there... :toilet:

I was just thinking about this the other day since I have a septic system (mound) at my house we bought about a year ago.

With my 90g, I only do 5g a week WC, with my 250g or so system with the sump that I am building, I dunno if I want to dump 20-30g of salt water down the drain every other week. Lugging buckets of water out to the edge of my acre yard would not be fun either.

Does anyone have a suggestion? Other than tasting the septic water.

I dont know if its a bad thing or not, but I wouldnt do it. Esp. if your not sure of what kind of pipes you have. I pour the water right on the grass. In fact, I've seen some weeds die from the SW.

i dump my water outside, but as far as the microbacteria in the septic tank, doesn't laundry detergent, soap, and dishwasher liquid, drain-o, and chlorine from washing cloths and everything we drain out of our house kill the bacteria anyways?
