I have a 30 in. tank and I bought a 24" pc light because it was on sale. will this be ok? Will I be able to use legs?

If you're hanging it, it's easier to make things work if something is smaller/larger. I would think it's best to buy to your tank dimensions if you're mounting on the tank. You can make mounts yourself I guess as I don't know what light you bought and I don't know if they make adjustable legs for it. I understand it's tough to pass up on a good sale, but you may want to re-think it if you won't be able to easily mount the fixture.

According to Kelly Lynn Daniels....yes :)

It's not so much the size of the light fixture as it is watt's per gallon spread enough to illuminate the entire tank. watts per gallon vary from 4 - 8 on average (give or take a few more) - depending on what you desire to do with the tank.

I'm not sure if the OP is more wondering if this light will struturally fit on his tank or if the light will be good enough to support the tank, hmmmm, let us know.

If the question is a structural, yes you are fine. Provided the legs met your tank’s frame without issue
