Does 'Sweating" copper pipe release copper in the air?

    No, you are only heating the copper hot enough to melt solder which has a lower melting point than copper does.

    Have you ever sweat copper before? If not it can be a little tricky at first to get it to the right temp so that it sucks the solder around because you should only have to just touch it to the pipe. :) HVAC test taught me lots
