does water go bad?

hi all , been a while since ive posted. but quick question. i found 5 gallons of water , thats probably 6 months old. the SG is fine still , was wondering if i can still use it for a water change. thnx in advance ,

It's fine to use.

 

:-/ Without knowing how the water was stored, or its source in the first place, I would not just say it is fine to use.

Was it kept air tight the entire time? If the answer is no, then I say do not use it. Stagnant water can get some nasty bacteria growing in it. Its only 5 gallons anyways, so I would play it safe and just dump it personally.

 

I agree. It's only 5 gallons so I would dispose of it, to be honest. It's not that expensive to make 5 gallons of water.

 

it was kept in a sealed bucket , and yea , only 5 gals. was more curiosity than anything. thnx for the inputs

 

Yah if it was sealed and was stored out of the light I wouldn't have a issue using it, But if you don't know the storing process I would just give it a toss.
