Does window screen block light?

so i found triplemom's thread about doing the window screen http://www.3reef.com/forums/general-reef-topics/my-weird-egg-crate-top-66292.html i pretty much did the same thing as she did but two layers, one on top and one on bottom and instead of tape i used staples, when my dad and i did this we weren't to sure on what to do. But if the staples doesn't work out we have extra egg crate and screen so we can adjust it and coppie her idea. Just wish i knew about the thread before doing this
