Well, it's been around a month since I covered my orange fungia plate coral from the flame. The coral completely recovered! BUT, today while we were out shopping, the cage came off the coral. We came home to find the coral was nipped badly again. My wife asked me if the flame is only attacking the fungia, because it is orange. Any of you heard anything like that before?

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Is it the only fungia in the tank?

It's possible the Angel nipped it discovered it liked the taste and now associates the coral as a food source.

I doubt it's the color. Carailline's is right with the aquired taste. mine loves to nip and eat my Kenya tree all the time. And honestly I don't mind it because that thing is a weed in my tank. I still believe that dwarf angels require something that's in certain coral to survive. I have heard and read many stories of flame angels not surviving too long in captivity. So if yours is nipping, that sounds like a happy angel to me. They are beautiful fish.

I have an orange Fungia in my 125 with my Flame Angel, but have never seen it nip it. It very well could, I just have never seen it and the Fungia does not show any signs of being nipped. It does nip at SPS though, but no LPS (yet).
