I now dip in bayer, revive, coral rx. Place in qt for a week and observe. Redip in bayer and observe for another 1-2 week. Final dip and monitor, after one month then release.

Wow, but very justified. One outbreak of AEFW or pest nudibranchs can cause so much damage and untold frustrations.

If I had to remove colonies and dip every couple weeks, not sure I would be up the chore.

You know you're hardcore hobbyist is you are willing to do those types of treatments and interventions.

I tore down my 120 gallon back in 2010 due to a red bug and flat worm infestation. Lost many nice size colonies. I used to trust local fish stores and fellow reefers with their claimed pest free frags, until I saw first hand the destruction of my tank and many others what these pest can do. When your pretty colorful acro sticks you spent hundreds to thousands of dollars raising turn into ugly drab pieces, you feel the pain. I nearly gave up then.

In this hobby if you stick around long enough and dont quarantine, its not a matter of if, but when

Even hardcore reefers sometimes overlook red bugs in larger systems. My buddies system was infested and when his calcium reactor malfunctioned it sent his parameters spiraling, his acros were stress and the bugs went rampaged after the weaken acros. Which became visible.

Also don't trust fish stores all the time too. Some rarely dip wild colonies/ corals in fear the coral will stress and die.
