We got a new powder tang today in our 70gal long and he is so active he swims through all the caves and such. He keeps swimming up to the dog face puffer which is a little smaller than him and the puffer puffs up. he's been in the tank a couple hours now and will not settle down. Ideas? Do I need to take this fish back right away? Trying to catch the tang also stresses the puffer out so I'm not sure what I should do.

i've heard that sometimes when a puffer puffs it can get stuck witch sadly can be fatal, But don't take my word for it it's just things i've heard.

I know that that's why I don't like the tang making him puff up because it can kill him and stresses him out a lot.

Blocked off one entrance to the cave the puffer liked so the tang would leave it alone and now they are hiding together in the same cave. He puffs up a little bit every now and then, but it looked like he completely depuffed alright.

Neither one of those fish should ever be put in a 70 gallon aquarium. A dog faced puffer gets over a foot in length. Not a good idea.IMO:cry:For the sake of the fish I would take both of them back.

They have plenty of room and are 4" and 6" thanks for your opinion though.

Sorry to say but they will shortly not have enough room, but i agree with the block on of the cave ends off. Hope it all works out for you.

They won't grow over night. By the time they are a foot long I will have enough notice to get a bigger tank. Next step up from this will be a 180 gallon probably.

There are plenty of appropriately sized fish for a 70 gallon aquarium. Doesn't it make more sense to upgrade the aquarium first then the fish? Buying a fish that will outgrow your tank under the premise that you will be upgrading rarely happens and is not good aquarium husbandry.IMO Not trying to be a jerk as I know you are new here just trying to make you understand were I am coming from.
