My dog geeks out and cant breath whenever he gets overexcited. It usually only lasts like 15 seconds though. Dont mean to highjack the thread but does anyone know whats up with that? He is a chihuahua manchester terrier mix. Maybe its something like what your dog is doing? But he does this pretty much every day. He just starts grunting like crazy and cant walk. Could this be a seizure like what your dog is having?

I think that sounds like "reverse sneezing" happens a lot in short muzzled dogs where the throat collapses onto itself and sounds like they are having an asthma attack. If that is what it is, then it is nothing to worry about. With my pugs and the boston when they did it, I would cover their nose with my hand. It would startle them into snapping out

Thank you everyone for the kinds words! I found out my dog ate 10 Hershey Kisses that afternoon! Lovely, huh? Well, i don't know if it was worth it for him but i bet he enjoyed it while it lasted! They said an overdose or excessive chocolate can have his system do something and release toxins into his body and blah, blah, blah. haha Those people speak with too big of words for me. Thanks again! :) p.s that will be the last time i have hersheys laying around! last year the ate a pack of Juicy Fruit and had to get surgery! cha ching $5,000. that's exactly what it is. Little dogs throats are kinda weird, and the tongue slips back into the throat into this weird area. My little dog gets that when she gets really excited. It's scary for her. sometimes it lasts a minute or so. It helps to hold them and try to calm them down, and sometimes gently stroking down their throat helps as well.

Geeze, glad he is okay! Chocolate can kill, ya know. Be more careful about what you leave lying around!

    Glad he is a-okay!

Whenever Dr. T heard my voice on the phone, he would just start laughing and ask, "Which dog?" and "What did they eat THIS TIME?". (Just as an FYI, my dogs have eaten 20 pounds of chocolate, whole chickens including the bones, plastic, rocks, etc). I'm from the Mid-West. We have tough dogs. I'm an expert. I only feel the need to talk with my vet to confirm my diagnosis that I had already had due to my superior knowledge of canine physiology. ;D

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
My Golden once knocked down the 6 foot xmas tree to eat all the candy and chololate decorations. Came home to a tree on the floor, dog covered in tinsel, smashed decorations and candy wrappers all over the floor. Revenge for not leaving the chocolate cookies closer to the edge of the counter I suppose. ::)
