    Anyone use dolomite in your ca reactor? I know brightwell has a product called neomag which is pure dolomite... but I was wondering if I could get just plain dolomite without paying for the fancy "neomag" name.

    DOLOMITE 25LB (2PC) - DiscountedPetProducts.Net its 12 times more dolomite for $3 less... ::)

    I would think that you would really have to crank up the CO2 inputs. I know Dolomite, Calcite, and Calcium Carbonate are all very similar but if my recollection is correct, Dolomite does not like to dissolve very easily. I remember getting into this discussion with Boomer years ago but I don't remember on which forum we talked about this. I remember arguing that those balance blocks are probably nothing more than classroom chalk and then we discussed the White Cliffs of Dover, the different crystalline structures of Aragonite, Calcite, etc.

    Let me see if I can do some digging and find out.

    would be much appreciated. I know people have used the neomag for keeping up with magnesium levels without having to physically dose.

    And just to be clear, I am not running exclusively dolomite... It is recommended to run a 9:1 ratio of calcium carbonate media:dolomite in a reactor.

    Pure dolomite= CaMg(CO3)2 so it is similar to normal Ca media, just releases a bit of Mg also
