not sure where to post this.... is it common for your fish to almost appear to either loose its color at "light's out". i really cant explain i wanna call it like a acid burn but during the day it appears normal... .25 amonia 5 nitrites, 0 nitrates. temp 78 degrees...... so its not really acid burn. could it be loosing its coating, it has been becoming friendly with a LTA. i dont know if that makes a difference or not.. but he tends to rub up on it, lay in the middle of itand when its deflated at lights out he tries to get the tenticles to raise them.

why is your ammonia and nitrites elevated in the first place? Is the tank cycled?

depends on when i test yes its cycled unless it take 3 months.....might b slightly overfeeding but nothing stays in the tank more then 2 hours its all gone. could b the amount of fish inverts corals n things poo'n that can cause amonia and nitritesn so on. yes it is a domino damsel. y im getin a slight spike i dunno.. my snails never stop poo'n fish poo's 4-6x's a day coral lets out a massive streak and the anemone's well they poo 2. lmao when something poo's it creates amonia. those aint really bad parameters either. yes i do need more live rock but i have to get that piece by piece as im unemployed rightnow......

Actually Mufass, ammonia and nitrites should be 0 when a tanked is cycled, period, not to sound harsh. I don't understand how you have 25ppm ammonia 5ppm nitrite and 0ppm nitrate when it has been cycled. How old is the system?

Yes. It's completely normal. Fish use coloration through innate behavior for various reasons. You might see drastic or subtle changes in color during feeding time, at lights out, definitely overnight in the middle of the night, and during periods of stress or aggression. Sometimes it's drastic, other times it's subtle. If the fish is normal color during the day, then you can rest assured it's just temporary.

I once had a niger trigger. Usually striking dark purple to black, the color would become subdued, almost tannish at times. I remember too a domino damsel I had. The spots didn't change character, but it normally went from jet black to a much more mellowed-out grayish lighter black.

    It's all good. Don't fret. :)

either you stocked too fast or you never completely cycled or introduced something into your tank that started a minicycle

I wouldn't worry about the colorchange, as reefsparky said, it is pretty normal for fish to change colors at times. On the other note, if you have detectable ammonia, you are either over stocked, don't have enough lr, or never really finished cycling. That should be an immediate priority to get it down to 0ppm. Even small amounts can cause adverse effects in the tank.
