I will b adding more rock here n a few weeks as money is tight i know im running bare essentials and need more. as live rock is $6-$8 lb adding rock is expensive.... I dont ahve the money to order it online and most of my LFS dont carry base rock... I have been warned about puttin rock from the"yard" into the tank... i got bout 400lbs of that outside some good size boulders 2. due to metallic features in the rock i dont know i refuse to put that in... being a carpenter i even offered to work a barter system with a few LFS. and that dint go so well. also the test kits are new but the colors are so close i could b wrong i am red/green color blind.. meanin 2 colors that are close but different are the same.

It's possible that the tank is not fully cycled. As for as the color change. It's quite normal. Like Reef Sparky said, fish tend to change their color at different times. Another one to add to his list would be when you're transporting a fish from the LFS to home. The fish becomes very pale during transport due to stress.

What type of Skimmer do you have. How often do you do WC?

A new skimmer should rectify the problem with your ammonia and nitrites for sure;) As for the fish. I wouldn't worry about it. I've seen domino damsels transition from deep black to light grey all the time.;)

All damsels lose there color opon darkness. I've had almost every species of damsel at one time or another. they all do that. I have to green chromises, and a domino. The domino turns gray at night, the yellow tails turn a darker blue, same with most blue devils.
