I guess its worth a try

hey my friends dad gave me a pressure washer that has a bad pump. The motor is a honda gx 340 (Yes for free) that runs great, I want to use it for a go cart. The problem is I took the 4 bolts off connecting the pump to the actual engine and the pump will spin but i cant get it to come off- even using all of my strength and a crow bar. I looked it up online and the only thing I found said that sometimes it will get corroded from using bleach and stuff and it will get stuck on there and will a little patience it will come off. Anyone removed a pump or worked with this engine before? Please help me.

double check it for bolts/screws holding the motor down, maybe google a service manual for it and see if it gives the location for everything and a tear down

I dont know the serial number since the engine was painted black, ill repaint it once I get the pump off
only reason i know its a gx 340 is because its stamped onto the engine block

I also dont know what brand pressure washer is I think its pretty old.

The motor is great and runs like new(first pull on old gas) it really aggravating that I cant get the pump off. this would be amazing for a go cart.

theres only 4 screws and I took them all out the pump will spin on the shaft but wont come off so I think its corroded maybe I could spray some liquid wrench in there or something

If there's nothing else holding it on, I say you may just have to use alot of elbow grease and alot of patience. Maybe beat the snot out of the connection area (as long as it won't harm the engine). Maybe even try to break some stuff on the pump side to make getting the engine off easier.

oh yeah I dont think ill have a problem getting the engine off the cart its just the pump thats pissing me off

Dont beat on it to hard you dont want to bend the crankshaft and make the motor useless as well. have you tried to wedge anything between the motor and pump to seperate it? You can also check out techsupportforum.com the guys on the small engine section seem to know everything.
