    hello, I have made algae scrubber since last thread. looked at santa m. thread . And have to say it seem to be lowering nitrates. Was 20-40 , now is about 10-15 . thanks santa. m Here is pic of scrubber . love 3reef.com . Iam a new mem. and it has already gave my tons more advice , than i ever got from lps. go figure? lol. ps also think I,ll try making denitrator . I KNOW i dont need both , but i,am a cnc machinist / programer so i can make anything i need . once again thanks from indiana.

    I,ll post new pic of tank when hair algae is gone . I ,VE been leaving mh,s off to make scubber seed faster.

    You'll get good results, since your lighting is strong and very near the screen. Just make sure to clean every 7 days no matter what.

    its getting there, nitrates are 10-15 . starting to get good growth. rocks are looking cleaner. and i keep changing water every 2 weeks . will put pics soon , there was alot of lr under all that hair algae lol.

    what about sump area ? do i clean it once a week to? it seems to grow algae on bottom and sides. or do i treat it like a refug. i cleaned it last time.

    For maximum filtering, clean it too. After your tank is how you want it, you can try not cleaning it. But if you clean it, be careful not to let broken algae pieces/fluids get into your water (will turn the water yellow and cloudy). Would be best to remove the whole thing and wash it in the bathtub or outside. If you could get your reflectors pointing more directly at the center of the screen (maybe by clipping them to the container instead), you'll have less light leakage and that sump growth will stop.
