I dont remember saying I feed my corals tap.

The purpose of this thread is a learning experience I had with using grocery store water. and to inform others as well. Thats it.

I may ormay not get an ro unit. In the meantime, I will use my lfs water and peridically test it.

The two ideas behind owning a good reef quality RO/DI are one, you alone control your water quality and two, it provides consistency you won't find anywhere else.
While I would not hesitate to drink water from any public drinking water system in the US I would not think of putting any of it in my tanks regardless or where it comes from. Water quality changes day to day and hour to hour and thats just from the plant or well, not even mentioning the things that can and do go on in the distribution system they and you have no control over like backflows, broken mains and cross connections.
Its not worth the risk to my corals and fish, I have too much invested.

Its not that serious to me. Unless somone is going to buy me an RO system I dont have the money to get one. until then I will use the RO from the lfs which is perfectly fine. Even from the grocery store ill take the phosphates over investing into somthing I dont have the money for. also.. The day I believe the health of my corals is more important than the health of myself is the day I retire from reefing.

Why keep corals if you can't keep them in the environment they deserve? It's sort of cruel, they are living things.

The day I stop appreciating living things that I am in sole control over is the day I stop reefing.
