I removed the Falco and the Damsel. I had to remove pretty much every rock from the tank and redo it all as best I could. Your never really able to put every rock back exactly where you had it and this time was no exception. Needless to say I'm not very happy. However, I am glad to be rid of a couple of bullies.

Many of you know this already but for those new to aquaria, you need to understand that if a fish doesn't work for you then you can't just easily get rid of it. MAKE SURE YOU KNOW WHAT YOUR GETTING. In my case I knew what I was getting when I got it and I'm just a fool. Don't be like me.

I also added a little 14w light to my CPR bak pak and put some chaeto in there.... just to see what happens. Pics below.

Thanks, I'm not upset about having to get rid of the fish, just that my scape isn't "perfect" like it was. I'm sure it looks just fine but anyone that has had to do this knows the feeling.

It's good to know you got the chaeto to grow like that in your CPR. I sometimes shut off the CPR at night (which I know isn't good) because I just can't sleep with it on. Will this kill the cheato?

Round two for the cleaner shrimp. I feel bad buying another one after the last one died, but I did get rid of the murderer. So far the shrimp is still alive and not being messed with by anyone. I also got 2 peppermint shrimp. This brings my stocking list to:

    -Oc. Clown x1
    -Starry Blenny x1
    -Green Urchin x1
    -Cleaner Shrimp x1
    -Peppermint shrimp x2
    -various other CUC
    -various coral

Everyone is happy and clean, including me! ;)

I broke down my 55g cichlid tank today because it just sat there in the dark. I was able to trade the LFS for a colony of Candy Cane and I am quite excited.

I'm considering switching the reef over to this 55g tank but is it really worth it? I only get 15 more gallons and I probably couldn't just keep my simple protein skimmer-only filtration. Plus there is the whole thing about disturbing my livestock.

Would you convert a 40 breeder over to a 55g?

    Thanks!

Pic of candy cane addition still acclimating below.

nice coral! as for the 55 gallon... I'd stay with the 40 and use the 55 for a different project. Moving everything will be pretty stressful IMO, and you could probably add like 1 more fish anyway

No way, a 40 breeder is way better than a 55 for a reef, IMO. I caught my Falco with a bottle trap. ;)

I had extra chaeto in the cold basement with only a light for weeks with no issues. I'm sure it wasn't the best conditions, but it was still deep green in color.

I prefer to look at aquascaping as evolving, not rearranging. ;D

Okay so it is unanimous, I'll stick with the 40. The 55 seems like it just has so much more volume, but I know it's an optical illusion. I certainly wouldn't like to have to submerge my entire arm up to the shoulder just to reach the bottom of the tank. So there is that. I don't have the proper lighting for a tank that size either, which is something I just thought about. Thanks again.
