    i was wondering if i can dose sugar, ive heard people do it but i need instructions and if it helps

    It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    You will need to research that until the cows come home.

    One slip and bamm you crash the entire tank.

    I suggest KISS method, for a the first couple years in the hobby.

    Unless you have a medium to larger established reef, I would not give a second thought to carbon dosing.
