So I think this is going pretty well. I added just alk yesterday after I posted those levels. I didn't test yesterday after I actually added the alk. I think my API calcium test kit is off.. I tested my calcium levels today to be 440. My salifert tests measured Mag: 1395, Alk: 6.1. I added enough Calcium solution to raise the levels 10 ppm. I waited about 45 min, then added enough alk solution to raise the level 1 dKH. However, I am thinking of adding more alk as my tank seems to be using a lot, and I am trying to get to 9 here!

On the other hand, I was just reading another thread about unstable alk. They said that upon adding the solution to the tank, it became flaky instead of cloudy. Mine does the same thing, and it settles to the bottom of my sump. I then use a turkey baster to blow it of the bottom. It quickly gets taken by the return pump back up to the DT, which dissolves it immediately. The pH rises around .20 every time I add enough to raise it 1 dKH. Do you guys think it is precipitating with the calcium CaCO3? M2434 says that it will do this around 8.5 or so.. But my pH is only around 7.94 when I add it, and around 8.13 after it is all dissolved.
