My Bubble Magus doser has been a wonderful addition over the last year or two - I don't miss manually dosing. However I recently had an 'Oh no!' moment when I realized my ESV alk solution has started to solidify at the bottom. My routine has been to use a funnel and add more into the bottle shown below when low. Perhaps at that time I need to shake it as well? Anyone have a method to deal with this that you can share?

Cleaning up this bottle will be an messy affair I bet. :p

You didn't, by chance, pour the wrong solution into the bottle?

I don't believe so Hunter. But I suppose I can't rule it out.

    Cringes.

I get no setteling in my two part mix. I think operator error is a definite posibility.

Am I getting banned for suggesting that? Noooooooooooooooo...

Banning for helping me? I don't think so. :)

Jeez. You all have me worried. I'll do some tests tonight.

Some additional thoughts. I buy the 1 gallon ESV jugs. You have to mix distilled water with these. I guess they do that to save on shipping.

I have noticed settling if I let the jug sit for a long time.

I was told when I first started using the ESV products that this is something the alk will do if left sitting for a long time or if it gets too cold. I was told to warm the solution and give it a very good shake.

Very interesting thought on temp. Our apartment has one heat vent and the house has been chilly as it has been dropping into the 30's at night outside. Perhaps I can take the bottle and put it in a pot of warm water and see if that helps it initially then go from there. Thanks! k+

I have had ESV settle too, but only in brand new bottles. I put the bottle into a warm water bath for an hour or two, and it re-dissolved.

Aye indeed that helped me last night.

I put the bottle in hot water for several minutes and that loosened it up so I could shake it better. It did not dissolve all the way though and began to settle again.

I decided to dump it out, clean the bottle and put new ESV alk solution in there. What was interesting was that the top-off jug in the garage did not have the same issue. It was clear.

So I did a water test and my alk was off by about half a meq from usual. Not in the basement, but a noticeable drop. Although it's really hard to conclude what happened, I can't rule out that I may have topped off the bottle previously with calcium solution by mistake and caused it to snow. :p

Regardless I will take steps to avoid this next time by placing the top-off jugs away from each other.

Thanks for the tip on the warming up the bottle with a warm water bath. That really helped to clean the bottle out.
