Dosing involves adding chemicals to your tank to keep their concentrations at certain levels. Generally you get a concentrate of a chemical you want to adjust the level of (Mg, iodine, strontium, etc) and add it to the tank. Using a test kit you can determine where you are at concentration wise and adjust further. Any specific chemical you are looking at dosing?

Important elements in your reef tank get used up, so you eventually will have to start dosing. Dosing is adding required chemicals to your reef/marine tank to maintain a certain water chemistry. Basically trying to replicate an ocean like environment in your fish tank.

    Typically Alkalinity(dKH) and Calcium (Ca)

Alkalinity solution can have Sodium Carbonate and/or Sodium Bicarbonate

Sodium Carbonate (Na2CO3) also known as washing soda or soda ash
Sodium Bicarbonate (NaHCO3) also known as Baking Soda

Calcium solution typically has Calcium Chloride Dihydrate CaCl2·2H2O

You can mix these (Calcium and Alkalinity) dry materials to purified water and make solution to add to your reef tank
