General rule of thumb, don't dose if you don't test, do you know what your params are?

What type of salt are you using?

depends what you have in ur tank. softies will be fine with regular wc's, as they dont really need/use carbanates (sp) and ca to grow. lps/sps will need ca/alk to sustain them and for them to grow. thats why ppl dose. by all means get the levels were they "should" be but you must test the water to see if you will need to continue to add buffers and such to the water.

Dosing and checking your levels are really important, if you want corals to thrive you need to monitor them and dose accordingly. If you check out Peredhil's tank thread his corals just exploded out of control, I think it was when he got his dosing pumps and started keeping his calcium/mag/salinity consistent. I personally think consistency is key, of course they need to be within range.

    :hehe:

It takes time, but once you achieve equilibrium with all of the params your tank should improve over time. Just keep them as consistent as possible, and within the "accepted" range.
