Ok so as everyone knows i have a false perc clown and a maroon clown who are a pair fo the longest time. I recently bought a neon dottyback and it did very well in the tank. My gf had to have a strawberry psuedochromis so i got one and it seemed to me like a shy timid fish and within 30 minutes the neon dottyback killed it so i took the neon dottyback to my LFS and he traded me fo another strawberry psuedochromis as well as a six line wrasse. I put the wrasse in and he does pretty good an then i drop the strawberry in and it right away goes after my six line. Now my six line pretty much stays in a corner. Is this normal? will the strawberry leave the wrasse alone after time? it stressing me out because every fihs i put in there always has some problem! I know dottybacks are aggresive and what not but it hasnt even established teritory. is there anyway to lower this agression and keep the strawberry from charging my wrasse all the time? And lastly why do all the fish i get love to beat the crap out of each other but no matter what fish it is they ALWAYS leave my clowns alone? My clowns have not ever been bugged by any new fish ever but yet all the other fish i get like to charge ateach other..

Dottybacks are aggresive.Sixlines can also be aggresive.Clowns can definitely defend themselves and most fish leave them alone. The Maroon Clown can also become aggresive especially after its been in the tank a while.Fish stocking in a SW aquarium is not easy and requires alot of research. The order of introduction also plays a big part as well as the size of the system and ammount of swimming room.My advice to people is to always avoid the "I want" syndrome and choose fish wisely.Doing so will allow you to have a healthy peacefull aquarium and allow you to enjoy it.If you are inexperienced with SW fish we encourage you to make a stocking list of animals you are interested in and you will get great advice here on which are appropriate and which ones may give you trouble.Heres a couple of links that will help you enjoy your aquarium.

I knew the dottyback and the sixline were aggressive but after researching it, it says to house with other mildly aggressive fish and since these two were both introduced at the same time i thought the territory issue wouldnt happen that fast. and my clowns have never attacked or went after any fish ive had since the 2 years ive had them my maroon has always been shy and the false perc will only attack hands it just these two that are giving me problems since it is advised to not add one first then the other but the dottyback still likes to charge at the wrasse. Im refering to the strawberry psuedochromis as the dottyback by the way since i guess it the same thing

What size is the system? I have had many Dottybacks in my time and they are always troublesome. (but still one of my favorite fish)The least aggresive Dottyback I have ever owned was a Diadema.Sixlines can start off peacefull and turn into holy terrors I would just avoid them both. They are not good candidates for a stress free tank and both fish will probably harass any newcomers.Be mindfull of where and who you get information on fish compatibility from.3Reef is an awesome place to research things. There are many people here with tons of experience on what works and what doesn't.Take advantage of the real world knowledge that is 3reef.

My bicolor dottyback is a nightmare to all newcomers! I really LOVE the fish, its colors and movement, but she makes it tough introducing new fish. Most my fish seem to have buddied up to keep her at bay. I know my chromis protects my YT from her. lol

definitely i think i will start posting and asking about a fish. internet has seemed to be a lot of lies lately with fish. i forgot to mention i have a engineer goby and a serpent star i just never see them so forget they are there. but i am in a 90 gallon right now and will be moving to a 150 gallon if i introduce new fish to the 150 first then put these two in do you think that will still cause problems?

IT REALLY DEPENDS ON WHAT ELSE YOU ARE GOING TO ADD BUT A LARGER SYSTEM WILL DEFINITWLY CURB THE AGGRESION IN MOST FISH.Sorry for the caps.;)The best way to proceed is to make up a list of fish you would like to add then people here will give you an honest opinion on which are advisable or doable. Then we can also give you an order of introduction to help you achieve a peaceful system.;)8)
