One of our first fish was a bi-colored dottyback. If I knew how mean this one would be, I'd have never gotten it. It bit the fin right off our high fin goby which is maybe why it died. When we upgraded our tank it was on a feeding frenzy and wouldnt leave our flame hawk alone. So I caught the thing and put it in a seperate tank. Its been about a month since then, so if I were to reintroduce the dottyback into the bigger tank would it still be the bully fish or would it be better now not being the first fish in the tank?

It will most likely go back to being a bully that is their nature. They are best kept with much larger aggressive fish.

Thats kinda what I thought, I was just hoping I would be wrong. We've tried selling it along with our 30gallon, but no takers and I need to take that tank down. Oh well. Thanks. :)

Dottybacks are cool, my kids call it rainbow fish, they love it. I just wish it wouldnt bite at my other fish so much.

in general dottybacks should be introduced last to your tank as they will generally be aggressive to anything else added.

Have you talked to your LFS and see if they will take him back? Will not get the full value of it but better than nothing
