I read they will eat ornimental shrimp...so do you think i small dottyback will harrase a large coral bandit shrimp? he obviously cant eat him because the shrimp is way to big.

so far so good i dont think they have even noticed each other. its a 125 gal. its a purple stripe.

Obviously, he's not going to stay small, although 3 inches isn't all that big.

I've only had one dottyback- a bicolor- and as the smallest fish in the tank, and the last one added, he was still the most aggressive, by far. He even bullied my damsels! I finally had to dismantle my rockwork to get him back out. One of the worst fish I've ever owned.

purple dotty back in my 125 terrorized everyone. Use a fish trap to catch him.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Absolutely beautiful, absolutely a nightmare personality.

Would never keep another except as a sole fish in a tank. Your shrimp may be fine for months on end, but it's a gamble and nature of the beast.

Some people keep Dotty backs without issue, me I learned by lesson after trying them twice.

    Good luck to you.

I had the same experience as others in this thread. Dottybacks are very aggrsessive. If the shrimp is bigger than the fish, the fish may just pick its legs off one by one. Not a good fish for a peaceful reef tank.

Get a royal gramma. Looks just like the dottyback and a lot more mellow. I have 2 and although they fight each other a little from time to time they dont bother anything else
