Sounds like you'll be roughly at your recommended turn-over of gph(10x tank size). I think what youv'e got written here should work. If not you'll find out and adjust as needed. I think you'll be just fine.

1/2" return and drain? Dude, that is small. I dont know the size of your tank, but I have 1" drain and 3/4 return on mine. The smaller the tubing, the more pressure your creating and less gph.

I just set up a 90 with a sump and used a mag 7, my overflow box is rated to 600gph. im using flexible hose and i figure my head pressure to be around 5-6 feet. So around 450 gallons per house. Overflow box is only gonna fill and drain as much water as the pumps returning to the tank...thats why u dont want a pump overrated past what your overflow box can handle.

Hey, cool. Thanks! Mine sounds pretty good then. Are you using 1" tubing on intake and return?

You have to run one inch to the sump and for the return pump get a Mag 9.5 for the main pump and that can be 1/2 or 3/4 I'd go with a 3/4 coralife return fitting and some tubing for a local Lowe's . This will work perfectly for a 72 gal tank. I have set many up just like this and when completed the water level in you sump will run about 6 inched deep .

That totally didn't even dawn on me! Ok so I admit I was thinking along a different line here. Good point!
