    It's common name is red bubble algae but it's closer to a Caulerpa in it's growth pattern. As a result, if you allow the holdfasts to get into your rock well, you'll never get rid of it....you won't remove all holdfasts and it will grow back. Definitely get rid of it while it's small.

    I see it in two different places although I am sure it has moved around though not visible yet. Took a pair of tweezers and that mass I posted a pic of came out whole, base included.

    Thanks again guys. A oldschooler getting back in the hobby learns something new every day8) It is funny, you wouldn't hardly notice either one in a 250g+ tank but if you put a 14g literally a foot from your face for 8 hours per day and all kinds of 'new' things make themselves known.
