When i finally jumped in a few months ago i didnt think i cared about SPS..............

Now its all i can think about because of tanks like frags and horkn and many others on 3 reef. I love the way the coral grows and makes your tank completely unique. In my opinion LPS just doesnt add that kind of value to the experience. yes they grow....but not like SPS does

Yeah I need to find that USB... The tank has grown CONSIDERABLY since last updates...

I think I might've found one that works so we'll see.

As far as the Ca reactor is concened... I have thought about it no doubt esp since I am going through a gallon of 2 part in little under a month, but with the current set up I have no place I would put a CO2 tank. Plus that route would intail more costs... Now I buy baking soda and still have a bunch of CaCl2 sitting around...

At this point, from the start of the 2part additions, I have gone through a 12# bag of baking soda and about a half of one, so if all that CaCO3 was used as coral growth my corals have added about 18# of new skeleton in less than a year. Far more than I anticipated and faster growth than what most literature claims SPS do.

    Thanks for reading!

    Otty, How goes it?
That blue tip tort, has doubled at least, problem is now that the frogspawn(and clownfish host) is right underneath killing the bottom half of the tort... It looks good but some others have definetly passed it up.

That USB that I found fit my camera but for some reason isn't working, its a Kodak Camera USB for my other camera but isn't working with the Nikon.. I would prefer to use the Nikon but if I have to use the Kodak oh well.. I will be updating as fast as I can.

Honestly I really didn't think that they would either... I have books even from very cutting edge and respectable marine biologists that made me think they would grow half this fast... Also talking to the other SPS keepers I knew I didn't get this impression... Maybe they underestimated their own tanks growth...

My clowns are spawning every 3 weeks or so, I am also going through the 3 part just about every 3 weeks as well...

Next things on the agenda are to get new lamps within the next month or so, and increase flow as the SPS are now blocking much of it... I already have a Koralia 5, 2 K4s a K3, MaxiJet1200 Mod and a Mag12 return and the flow is starting to look like nothing when it once rocked the sand everywhere...

    Great update Dr Fragenstein

hope you find the USB you need, updated pictures of SPS growth are something I would appreciate

Can you describe your light acclimitisation methods please , I assume like many you get your SPS from tanks where they are under MH so can you explain how you place corals on introduction and when you move them up and in what kind of stages? please

Honestly Steve I don't really acclimate the corals... I haven't gotten a frag from anyone in a while as I am paranoid to add more parasites to the tank.. I know the fear is grossly overexaggerated as all I really had was some Red bugs and a small amount of Monti eating Nudis which the red bugs I took care of via Intercepter and the nudis I have been killing manually if I seen them... I see no where near as much as I had months ago before I got rid of my big spongodes colony. The way that colony grew it was like Tora Bora for nudis and fish couldn't get them and neither could I.

But even without the parasites which I could easily dip the frags for, I have spacial issues... Corals are fighting everywhere and there is little room to add more without fighting in the near future... I should've stuck with my original plan of very few species diversity and larger patches of the same coral... Oh well... I now have dozens of different SPS all fighting, GSP going on a killing spree with the latest about to be my hammer that started at 1 head in November and now is at like 10...

Word to the wise AVOID GSP!!

    Thank you
