    Hey guys,

I just seeded my intank refugium in my 46 gallon with pods from reef cleaners. I can see them roaming around in there. The refugium itself is one of those specimen containers that I drilled holes into, and have a pump that draws water from the Dt. It has a sand bed, some lr pieces on top of that, and chaeto in it. If all goes well and I see the pod population in a couple weeks, am I good for a mandarin? That's my all time favorite fish, and I would definitely try and wean it onto prepared too

    Thanks!!

I can take a bit to establish a good pod population. I would give it as long as you can stand lol. How big is the in-tank fuge? You may also want to build a few small piles of live rock rubble to create refuges in the DT for them as a 46 is a little small even with an in-tank fuge.

They eat hundreds upon hundreds of pods a day, so a couple of weeks isn't going to do much.

True. Even if you wait a couple months so they can populate and even after that you have to seed the tank almost every month to every other month. You should try rotifers because they reproduce faster. But I would still wait a couple months even before I add a Mandrin.
