I have had my tank for two days now, its filled with water, live sand, rock, however the drain is leaking from what appears to be the threads.

I would hate to not start the skimmer/sump soon. It is dripping, Should i make a new return, or do you think salt with clog it up?

Just take it apart and wrap some teflon tape around the threads, that should seal them if it's just a minor leak.

I'm assuming this is an internal or external overflow box? If so, then the little time it's gonna take to reseal everything, in the long run, is gonna be much safer for your tank. If it's dripping every second or so, that's a lot of water. I'd reseal it if were mine.

We need more details. Is it a drilled tank with a bulkhead installed? Is the bulkhead thread x thread or thread x slip or slip x slip? Was it installed properly with the gasket on the flange side, dry without any sealants or lubricants on the gasket and hand tight plus maybe 1/4" turn? Is the pipe glued?

Look at the top of the New Reefers forum for my Bulkhead Installation Tips sticky post, it should take care of you:

post a picture of it if you can, and we will try to help. I don't think you can count on salt to stop the leak - you need to get it right. It is not unusual to have a leak like that when you first set up. if you can show us what you are seeing we may be able to offer some advice.

I'm guessing this is an incorrectly installed bulkhead.

    3. Always install the gasket on the flange side of the bulkhead, never on the nut side, regardless if its inside or outside the tank. Installing the gasket next to the nut will lead to leaks as water travels along the threads around the gasket. Hand tighten only with maybe 1/4 to 1/2 turn additional, no more.

pulled directly from the bulkhead guide. Remove the extra gasket and tighten accordingly. Should fix it right up.

I'd also stress you ensure there is actually a gasket on the flange side; I suspect you may just have the single gasket on the wrong side.

I also see a potential issue with those vinyl lines on the barbed fittings; heat up that tubing and get those slid onto those barbs further.
