A sweater-vest would always do the job. ;) Dressy but not too dressy.

But really I would wear the suit with a red tie. The red tie will pop, and they will remember you. :)

    Comfort is important IME
Dress in a way that you feel comfortable

Im fine with black jacket and pants, white shirt and a red/ blue patterned or plain tie
but its personal taste, and go with what makes you feel smart and if thats black tie
then black tie is fine IMO

1st impressions are important, but these days people have learned to look beyond the clothes and asses the people wearing them

I have conducted many interviews over the years
and whilst someone who makes an obvious effort in terms of appearance is always off to a good start before even the" good morning" exchanges are made

the person on every occasion that got the job, was the person who I felt most comfortable with during the interview

so dress in a way that gives you confidence
be friendly and genuinely interested in everything they say

    you will be fine IME

I would wear dark grey pants and jacket, white or light blue shirt, starched, and a good tie. Black shoes... shine them. Don't do a clip on tie, they look dumb and you can tell. Black and white looks like you're going to a funeral.
