I boughta couple small pieces of driftwood for a tank I'll be setting up here shortly. I've been soaking them (as well as some rocks) in a 5gal. bucket of tap water, changing the water several times a day. It's been 5 or 6 days now and the water is still orange tinted after the wood has been sitting in there for a few hours.

I'd expect the color of the water it's soaking in to eventaully be clear after this length of time...

Any advice on something else to soak them in? I don't want a red watered tank once I put them in the water for display... :worried:

Is this drift wood for a FW or a SW tank? I'm assuming its for a FW tank.

The tag said for FW or SW aquariums. I was gonna use it for a Saltwater, which is why I want to soak it until it doesn't leech anything into the water whatsoever (but it's taking a while..) normal?

Why even take the chance? All kinds of potential problems when using driftwood or other organic ornaments in a SW tank.

I even think using ordinary rock may present problems. Depending on type of rock, it may adversely affect PH or leach silicates into water.

    Again, why take the chance?

    By some more LR.

oops, sorry for not searching. In this particular set-up the decor is key, more so than the fish inside or if it's FW or SW. Honestly I just wanted to do it as a SW because the fish are so damn cool. But I'm not one to half-ass it and end up with some dead fish..

So I will re-think the design and maybe just do FW...
