    Advantages and disadvantages of both?
I currently have 65g drilled but have a chance to get 90g with boxes for 100$ (NOT DRILLED)

Go for it or no? 30g sump will be used.

I vote drilled. Overflows work very well but there is always a chance the lift pump might fail.

Then you get wet carpeting. Well you will if too much air gets up in the u tube and the siphon stops.

The only drawback to a drilled tank is that you need to drill it. Other than that, there are no drawbacks to a drilled tank, but HOB overflows are always an accident waiting to happen.

Don't get me wrong, a HOB overflow will work, but if you have a choice, go drilled.

The overflow does not even need to be that extravagant. PVC fittings work very well. You can get a glass drill for very little $, and PVC fittings can be had for a few dollars for all that you would need.

When drilling your own tank, just take it slow, don't put any pressure on the drill, and use water to lube the bit.

Drilling is pretty easy I just did it on my 90 gallon and went well took about 10 min a hole with lost of water and a good drill other then that it is pretty easy. And if you really want to get into a good overflow system check out the BEAN overflow system which I am going to be using works silent and has an enormous capability of water flow.
