I have a kit from glass holes, but was just to lazy to drill my 40b when it was empty, I changed my mind and I thought I'll just slap eshopps hob and call it a day, now after some reading and thinking I realized that I should've done that. I don't have much livestock: Acro colony got transferred to my friend tank till my system will be ready, I have a blue chromis, rock with some hairy mushrooms and bunch of nerrites. Is it possible to empty my tank half way and invite someone who have an experience to drill it or I have a 20 long and 38 tall tanks just siting in the closet. Should I transfer all my sand, rocks, water and snails to 38 tall, make my 40b empty and then drill it while i'ts not too late? If i will have to break it down I'm also thinking about going bare bottom.

Break it down and go bare bottom with the knowledge that you can't have some gobies, shrimp, starfish etc, ever, but prob the best route, IMO. Thats what I would do in a 40B anyways.

It's a lot easier to drill it on it's side.

Agreed on all accounts. I run a 40B barebottom tank, and wouldn't do a 40B any other way. Drilling a tank should not be done with ANY water in it. Drain it, lay it on its side, drill SLOWLY and let the drill do the work. The Glass-Holes overflows are awesome!
