My toadstool mushroom's stalk went soft, the head seems ok though. I have a feeling it was too close to the frogsppawn and may have been stung, will it recover?

yeah... it also might be just shedding its skin...when they do this, they shrink, get droopy, and will develop a shiny layer on the top of their cap...after a week or so in good flow(highish medium) will be back to normal..and usually will be a little bigger than before after they do this..

without a pic its hard to tell

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Try to increase the flow to it.
