I bought 30lbs fiji ecorox base rock 2weeks ago and have been cycling it for about a week in a tubaware container with two strong powerheads. I have not added any dead shrimp or anything because there is enough dead stuff already. Once it is safe i am going to add this to my already established tank that has about 40lbs of live rock in it. I was just wondering if it would be safe to just do frequent water changes for the next week to eliminate the ammonia from the rock and then add it to my display tank where it will then harvest the bacteria. Will this work or should i just wait another month or so for the whole cyle to take place? Thanks for the help in advance.

Is that rock from Bulk Reef Supply? I'm thinking about using the same stuff for my new tank. Let me know what you think about it.

yes it is, i was a bit hesitant at first because i thought that it wouldn't be as good as the marco rocks but when i got the shipment in i was really impressed with all of the cool shapes i got. i should have posted pics before i put them in the tubaware container but if you want i can try taking some pics now or when they are finished and in the display.

i have rock from marco and bulk reef also I really like the stuff I got from bulk reef more by far, better shapes better rock quality in general it seems, the stuff from marco is just blah rock and the shipping from marco sucked, rock was all busted up by the time it arrived
