Hi I have an existing tank roughly 2 years. All parameters are good. I just purchased dry rock from marcorocks and I am wondering if I should have any concerns about adding this to the tank. I have exisitng live rock that will seed just curious if this will potentially throw off my water?

Since it is dry rock you will want to rinse it off with RODI water to get all the debri off of it. You should be able to add it after word. I could possibly see it dropping the PH but not exactly sure.

Someone else with more experience will chime in.

IIRC, someone else had a problem with that recently, so I would suggest testing them first. Place the rocks in a container of fresh-mixed SW with a small powerhead for a week, then test for ph and ammonia. If the ph has changed, you'll need to replace the water then test again after another week. Repeat until the ph stabilizes. If you have ammonia, you'll need to let them cure (cycle).

Rinse it and drop it in. You might get a bit of a cycle, so watch your parameters.

I'd just add the rock. Your tank is well enough established to handle it for sure. Your present bacteria will handle it. Just keep an eye on your parameters is all. What we normally do anyways right?

How many lbs do you have in the tank and how much are you planning on adding?
