DSB or not?

    i cant imagine what kind of crazy animals you would need to stir up that much sand!

    DSB's are the way to go if you get the right animals in the sand. Never allow sand sifters/stars or Hermits in the bed as they will eat the beneficial animals.

    Also remember that the animals you need for a rich DBS also die off in about a years time so you have to re-stock once a year or you will have decaying organisms in your DSB.

    Is it worth having a deep sand bed and paying to restock it once a year? It really depends on how you stock your tank and how big it is. Under 200 gallons I would say DSB's may not be for everyone, but with larger tanks...you might want to let the critters clean your sand instead of you.
