DSB with 5 gallon refugium?

    I made a 29 tank into a sump/refugium, skimmer on oneside, return pump in middle and refugium on other side. With my refugium dimensions, it came out to me 12" high by 9" long by 11.75" wide so about 5 gallons. Should i put a deep samd bed in it?
