Thanks Corailline, your words mean alot. That would be an Efflo I believe, bansai. It's been a fast grower for me. I've been having trouble with my red planet though:( Any Advice for a rookie sps keeper.

    As always looking real good.
So this is the tank you were thinking of breaking down and adding to your 125 tank?
    Just got Red Planet myself.
How long have you had it and what issue are you having

Yes it is chris. The red planet has put on alot of growth but not much color or polyp extention. It's crazy because the others are doing great.

When you say not much color, is it green or red? When I got my frag, I was told at first when it's encrusting it will be green, and then when fully encrusted new growth will be red. Guy I got it from also had no polyp expansion, it was basically one long stick.

Good to know. It's definitely grown quite a bit. I'll post a pic tomorrow.

Thanks! I found it on the interwebs :) In one of your pictures I notice you have really puffy acans. How do you get them to extend that much?

Honestly I've always had good luck with acans. I do feed the tank quite a bit plus I spot them a few times a week as well. I keep my alk at 10-11dk and that seems to keep them happy as well. They soak up some light too with the halides. I'm also very diligent with water changes. 20 gallons every Sunday on a 75 gallon tank and 20 gallon sump. I only use coral pro salt mixed an hour before water change. Hope that helps.

    Sorry just saw this. o_O

It's weird I am actually hesitant to try another RP even frags from my old colony just because it can be a very finicky coral. All I can provide is that my last tank always ran with a low phos but present, same with nitrates, mod flow and high light once acclimated. A lot of red millepora will produce the same results lately as far as tabling and extreme PE, give one of those a try. Honestly I am not sure what I did right other than light, it always did the best under MH.

I missed this update, your tank is awesome dsc! I know I always comment on it but it's so clean! all of the corals look so healthy. I personally think that a mixed reef is the toughest type to run and yours is so striking and you've obviously worked it out to be successful!
