One can always go sumpless like me, then clogged drains, fried return pumps and floods are never a threat. Whole lot cheaper, as well. 8) :D

Seriously though, great idea. Glad it's working for you. :)

    Thanks Mr. Bill,

and for me, no fried return pumps, and no wer floors/overflows, for really not that much $ for insurance either. My system probably costs less that most HOB systems.
I understand hnowever that sometimes there is no alternative.

I'm just bumping this because I saw a similar thread today, was working on the reply, lost the tab (sliiy windows 8- hate it), so I'm bumping mine till it returns. It seems that o9n the forum, if you've clicked on a thread, if is removed from the 'New Posts' when you return, so I can't get it back- tried everything.

Anyways, it was funny that I never saw this thread when I was researhing for a non-contoller- DT overflow preventer- as in shutting down the RP when the DT gets too high.

Well, apparently, there was a device, but you had to assemble and bujild it, etc. Maybe I did see it actually, and for some reason felt it wasn't for me and my DT.

This one in my thread is plug and play! It does cost just over $70 though.
But currently, relying on a DIY, HOB, over the DT's surface siphon style U tube- this is a really cheap insurance.
And as I said, it's plug and play, no building, no float valves, etc.
It does consist of a sensor that you place where you do't want the water going, as in too high in the DT. So if it contacts a drop of water, it shuts the RP down, and has an annoying beeping warning/loud, until you simply reset the system.
Resetting is easy- turn the power strip off and on, ot unplug and plur back in, etc.
It's also nice that everything else will keep working when the RP trips off, likd in tank pwerheads, lights, etc.
