    Buy test kits for ammonia, nitrites, nitrates, and pH. If you're going to go reef, then consider test kits too for magnesium, calcium, alkalinity.

    i have a master test kit for fresh water im using the nitrite and high range ph tests... just tested the ph ( tested 8.0) and the nitrite tested 0... i also got a question the lfs told me to buy a turkey baster to feed my flame scallop with and i already learned not to listen to them to close so how should i feed him? ive been using that and feeding brine shrimp and mysis shrimp... the damsels seem to really like them too...

    in my 10 gal i constantly have brown stuff growing in it... how do you guys keep this crap out of the tank? i was thinking it was cause i didnt have enough flow but i have a top fin 30 powerhead and i still have the hang on the back filter and a small bubbler going at all times... also i have 3 crabs and 2 snails...i scrape the gunk out every other week but then it just grows back thicker! any suggestions?

    tanks been up since july... like i said i added fish right away when i thought it cycled the first time it was green stuff that grew now it turned to brown gunk...

    the lights are 2-10w flourecent screw in bulbs... lights of america 2110aq is the product number... i also leave the lights all 24/7
